So much to do...

...sooo little time!!

Where does the time go.....one minute it was April - the next halfway through September!

In the meantime though....i have attended some brilliant events and fairs - with lots more to come.....

From this weekend it is pretty much go go go....from The UK's BIG Vintage & Fashion Fair at the Lights in Leeds city centre this weekend ....have a look at the events page HERE for all the info...

I am please to be back at the next Vintage Event at the BBC......and the next Kitsch and Stitch event and on the 30th Sept i am please to be involved in the Macmillan Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning in Teddington

We had a fabulous piece written about us on a fabulous website - A Gifted Existence - read it here.... i met the lovely Lucy when she visited our stand at the Thames Festival - ....Lucy was also accompanied by the most adorable Beagle/Basset Hound puppy - so very cute!

Despite a very wet few spells we had a nice time at the festival - missed the fireworks even though we had a perfect view - oops!

Also visited the Cinnamon Tree Bakery while i was there - yuuuuummmm is all i can say!! Now - i love all things baked - but biscuits are usually far down on my list of priorities....usually aim for the cup cakes - but these gorgeous treats were far to tempting and pretty.  We had a selection of 4 different ones including their signature cinnamon cookie and shortbread owl....delicious!  Have a visit at www.thecinnamontreebakery.co.uk

And finally...lots of new items in creation from Storybook bunting ....handmade crackers...some stunning new candle collections, vintage haberdashery jars and beautiful linens....

News Just In......

One Day Costume Sale
Saturday 6th August 2011  Charlton Assembly Rooms, The Village, Charlton, London SE7 8UD
Doors open 11am – 4pm

We are a theatre production company that has written, directed and produced many professional Pantomimes and Shows over the last 10 years. After much deliberation, we have taken the decision to clear out our stores and have a sale of all of our accumulated stock – a difficult decision for a costume junkie and hoarder like myself. But we would rather these costumes see the footlights again and are used rather than sitting in our store room!

We will be taking over the use of Charlton Assembly Rooms for the day and filling it with hundreds of lovely costumes – some are used and some have never been worn. Perfect for a collector, theatre groups, producer, fancy dress hire business or individuals wanting a stunning costume.

Costumes for sale will include many stunning Victorian gowns from Music Hall shows, Georgian Dresses from Opera productions (some never even worn). Plus a whole range of Tyrolean and Austrian costumes along with Guys and Dolls ‘Hot Box’ outfits, lots of individual, Dresses, Shirts and Skirts etc.

There are also Props, Shoes, Hats, Make Up and Wigs plus some interesting items collected from the last 10 years of Theatre and Film productions…..all at bargain prices.
We have a section packed with Theatrical Trims, Sequins, Fabric Bundles, Threads, Buttons - all perfect for Costume making or Crafts

To support our team who are walking this year’s ‘Shine Walk’ for Cancer Research UK, we will be having a Vintage Cafe and Book Sale of which the proceeds will be added to our fundraising efforts!

There is a free car park behind the Assembly Rooms plus on street parking around the area.
Charlton is 5 minutes from the Blackwall Tunnel and 15 minutes from the Dartford Crossing by car, the Assembly Rooms have bus stops yards away that are on 4 bus routes and it is only a 5 minute walk from mainline Charlton Overground station. It also only takes 10 minutes on a bus from North Greenwich Tube station (Jubilee Line).

Payment: Cash or Business Cheque (with ID) only.

Prices will go from 50p up to £75 for some of the more pristine, intricate Victorian or Georgian dresses. Offers will be considered!

Visit www.thecostumeandproproom.blogspot.com for some photos and further details. There will also be a basic stock list advertised on here as we set up.

If you are interested in coming along then please do get in contact via meliguin@gmail.com or 07957 284709 if you have any questions and we will give full details including a map and more detailed directions.

Otherwise just turn up from 11am and we look forward to seeing you there!

Tuesday 12 July 2011

We will have some fabulous new items  - plus Vintage mix & match Cake Stands, Teacup Candles and  Pin Cushions and more of our popular framed original Vintage Adverts!

June already...?

It has been a completely manic Month of May......

Firstly to kick off the month i exhibited at the first ever 'Kitsch and Stitch' event in Cranbrook and what a fantastic day that was!!

Not only was it amazingly well attended (with lots of friendly customers which is always nice!) it was fabulously organised by two lovely ladies who made us all feel very very welcome! It was a perfect place to launch my new range of Pick & Mix cake stands which went down a treat and almost sold out.

Cakes on sale were delish and all for a good cause which made eating them obviously less sinful - and i met some really lovely stall holders with beautiful items!

I can't wait to be back for the next ones!!

***

Last weekend we had the crazy costume sale - again we met the most fantastic people - the costumes are beginning their new life in new Theatre Productions, Pantomimes, Fancy Dress Hire and some are winging their way to the USofA to the Burning Man festival......(how does that work that a costume travels more than me this year - hmmmm something needs fixing!!)

There are still some lovely costumes & props left, plus tons of amazing buttons, trims and fabrics - so we are thinking of another one either later this month or in July - if you are interested then please drop a line to me and i will add you to the email list once details are ready.
meliguin@gmail.com
or have a look at http://www.thecostumeandproproom.blogspot.com/

Finally in May i attended my first Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair at Spitalfields Market - what a terrific day! Beautiful stalls, lovely people, some fabulous outfits and a profit to boot - a very very happy bunny!! Can't wait until the next one.....

I am now off on a little exciting adventure tomorrow - fingers crossed for a new project in the pipeline ...xxx

International Women's Fair - Old Spitalfields

What an amazing way to spend a Saturday!

I was proud to be part of the International Women's Fair this weekend and it didn't disappoint! This was my first visit to Old |Spitalfields as a trader and really hope to back there again soon. What lovely people and space.

My stall was right opposite the stage area which with the speakers facing right in my direction and a great big drum kit being set up i was really worried! Was this a terrible place to be - would i be heard - would people crowd out the stall - it wasn't a cheap fair to attend so i was really worried......but i needn't be!

Yes it was noisy - yep - people stood in front of the stall, blocking access and no i couldn't be heard - but this all did not matter when the band started playing the atmosphere changed into a great big party - and i got the best seat in the house!

Have added a couple of pictures.....
Our Stall
My view to the stage
So lots of happy friendly shoppers - lots of lovely comments and lots of sales - all while listening to the fabulous Electric Landladies......Simply Perfect!

Met some lovely people - saw some beautiful crafts and art - so many talented people!!

Also met some lovely customers - was very happy to see some of my items go to lovely new homes.

Oh and did i mention the delish goodies from the cafe.....mmmmmmm.

So thank you Of Cabbages for a great weekend! I will be back on the 7th May

A New Week....almost a New Month!

Phew - where has this month gone?

Saying that  - where has the last year gone?

We have just celebrated our 1st Wedding anniversary and cannot believe how quick it has gone...have to admit to being a little grumpy as last year we were having an amazing time in Las Vegas with our friends and family....this year - rainy old England! Ah well - my lovely Husband surprised me with tickets to Paris in March so must not be grumpy!!

So to celebrate the fact it is a year since our nuptials - i am being indulgent and posting my fave picture from our big day

Paris Hotel, Las Vegas Feb 2010

Obviously i cannot possibly go to Paris without visiting the flea market at Porte de Clignancourt (just cannot leave business at home!!) So fingers crossed for some Parisian Vintage Designs!!
